Have you ever gone to the dollar store and wanted to buy everything!? Yeah, I can relate! Everything’s a dollar and you can find the cutest and coolest things there, what’s not to love?
My family and I are obsessed with the dollar store. We love to walk the aisles and get inspired. We recently went to 99 cents only and my daughter found a very cute silver plated L (her first name initial) and a wood frame for it. Together we created this very cute and personalized DIY Dollar Store Jewelry Organizer for her room for less than $5.
Hope you get inspired😊…
Supplies
Decorative initial letter (99centsonly)
Wood frame (99centsonly)
Hyper tough hooks (walmart)
Washi tape or painters tape
Variety of colored acrylic paints (I found mine at walmart for .50 cents each)
Ribbon to hang
Hot glue gun
Step 1
Paint the outeredge a different color.
Step 2
Using the washi tape or painters tape create a criss-cross design on your canvas. There is no wrong or right here just unique creativity.
Side note: We were originally going to mod podge cardstock on the raised part of the wood frame but it was really hard to get the exact shape of the frame. So, we decided to paint instead. Below is our attempt to trace the raised edge and use the cardstock.
Step 3
Let your mini paint each section a different color of their choice.
Step 4
Remove the washi tape once it dries. Click on the pic for the full video.
Step 5
Hot glue the decorative L in the center and a small piece of ribbon on the back of the frame to hang.
Step 6
I bought these adhesive hooks at Walmart. Painted them with 2 coats using the same acrylic paint I used on the wood frame and attached them to the frame. They were the perfect size for this project.
And that’s it! My daughter and I love how this turned out, super colorful and functional!

Hi Angela! Thank you so much! It was really easy and fun for my daughter and I.
This is so cute!! You could even just use this as a wall decoration. I love the colors and the huge letter. Honestly, no one would ever know the supplies came from the dollar tree!
Hi Gabrielle, Actually the supplies came from 99 cents only. But you are right we thought of just hanging as a wall decor item but decided to make it a little bit functional for her :).
Yass this is great! I go to the 99 cent store just to “see” what’s there and shop around. It’s so much fun! Great idea 🙂
Hi Jesyka,
I agree! The 99 cents only is very addicting but the prices are great which makes it a great place for retail therapy! 🙂 Side note: I love the spelling of your name! Very unique!
I love this idea for my tween daughter’s room
Hi Meagan, Yes this is perfect for any girls room 🙂
